Quitapesare's Tavern is located at 3 Plaza Padre Jerónimo de Córdoba (next to Don Paco Hotel).
It is commonly known as "Taberna del Peregil", due to its owner's artistic name, Pepe Peregil, a famous flamenco singer.
Pepe, whose real name is José Pérez Blanco, was born on 5th January of 1945, in a little village called Manzanilla in the province of Huelva. He has been working behind the bar for more than forty years, becoming this a family business since the beginning of the 20th Century.
Pepe is the only waiter, so the opening hours are the common ones of most taverns in Seville, from 12:00 to 16:00 and from 20:30 to 1:00 at night. On Sundays the tavern is closed as well as in summer months (July and August) due to the artist's commitments.
At Peregil's Tavern you will find lots of several owner's friends' photographs, as well as some of him, including one where Pepe is singing for the Spanish Royal Family.
Pepe Peregil usually sings while serving meals, which is such an appealing extra for customers from all walks of life.
Here you will be able to taste, as in the rest of our taverns, the authentic orange wine as well as the freshest manzanilla brought from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, served with cold cuts from Sierra de Huelva. Is snail season there are a lot of people ordering snail tapas elaborated by the taverns keeper.
Pepe Peregil was awarded with the Medal of the City of Seville in 2009 by popular request.
